Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Peeling of an Onion

Written by Michael Herbert

One of the everlasting truths of God’s word is the precious fact that we can cast ALL our cares upon him. not just a few or a selected group of, but all. When your problem is bigger than your God, it requires us to have to peel away those hindrances in our lives that keep us from seeing God bigger than our problems. With every bitterness, with every unforgiving thought or experience, with every ill thought we let go is like the peeling of an onion. We continue to peel away our hurts and pain until all that is left is the center of the onion. It is with each layer we peel away our cares and thoughts and cast them on Jesus’ feet that soon realize that our God becomes increasingly bigger and bigger and our cares that we so held onto with white knuckles slowly shrinks. Not that they are guaranteed to go away anytime soon, but they are under the feet of Christ at the Throne room.

When God becomes larger than our cares he than in a position of managing them for us.  Our life has to reflect a willingness to cast our cares before Christ in order to free us up from all drama this world can bring us. The Apostle Peter certainly knew this verse well as it was played out in his maybe during the time he denied Christ and said he would never do so and the time Jesus restored him on the shore after his Resurrection.  Cast away all your cares. Throw them away with reckless abandonment and see the Holy Spirit guide you to spiritual health.
