7.18 Seek first the kingdom of God Part 2

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 NKJV

Seeking first the kingdom of God it’s not something that we naturally do. By our normal standards, we try everything on our own and it’s only when we fail that we decide we need to do it another way which is God’s way. It’s only when we come to the end of ourselves that we realize all the striving we’ve done to achieve some success but if we have done it first by seeking first the kingdom of God everything will change.

Seeking first the kingdom of God means that if we seek God first in all of our decisions and everything that we do the answer will come, not as we may expect, but if the answer comes we know that God is in it because it’s his direction. We then are not left to our own devices to try to figure life out or the path that we should take but we have safely placed it in God’s hands to lead us to where we should go. It may not look like the best path we would take,  however if God is in it then we know that the outcome will be good because we know the creator of all the universe is in it with us.

I find it so amazing in my life that a God who created so much is intimately involved in my life and wants to lead me and guide me in the way that I should go. Psalms 119:105 says Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. God has given us everything that we need in order to become successful for the kingdom of God but It is up to us to seek. God has clearly shown us that we must do our part in order to activate having to do its part. Jesus said in John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Warnings of Jesus rang true later on in the sermon on the mount when he said. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven Matthew 7:21. We cannot do the will of the father unless we’re connected to the father and the way that you do that is to seek first the kingdom of God.

Although this devotional is not exhaustive by any means this is to start to think whether the things that we ask for are correctly connected to a higher purpose and goal than what we self seek. The direction that we take for our lives must be focused on first the kingdom of God in all his righteousness or are we self-seeking in the hopes that we will find the answers on our own?. We must seek a higher goal to achieve what God has for us. When we seek first the kingdom of God what we are doing is reaching for the creator himself who is able to design and clearly make our life successful. Clearly, God has challenged us to see if his way is better than ours. The path in seeking first the kingdom of God is hard, but after time it will become easier and the rewards more gratifying.
