The Lord wanted Gideon to fight the battle against the Moabites, however when asked how many fear the war 22,000 went home. Gideon was left a few and then the Lord asked him to take the remaining men to the river where they would drink. It came down to 300 men who were willing to press ahead for the Lord. Their qualifications were that they came to the Living Water and drink of it before going to war. With the fullness of the Lord inside, they knew they would win.
