Someday you’ll understand

By Michael Herbert

Jesus was explaining some heavy-duty realities that the disciples of Jesus could not grasp. Yes, difficult when it came time to understand Jesus would die for the sins of all mankind. They barely could figure out Jesus was the Messiah, let alone the unbelievable fact that he was chosen before the foundations of the world. The Lord in his wisdom choices the right time in which truth can be revealed. He is never too late or too early. Keep in mind there are many untold riches the Lord wants us to know. Most of the time the answer lies within us and our maturity level to grasp what he is trying to say. God is not going to give us something we cannot handle without his grace being applied. Many people fail for one simple reason, they never for God to instruct them or they assume that they will do something in ministry and God will just acquiesce to what we are doing.  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23

Jesus had many things his disciples would need to know to survive this hostile world and yet it wasn’t until the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit showed up that the eyes of their understanding was made known. Things the Lord Jesus said that at one time made no sense now made perfect sense. The disciples were now ready to quote Jesus and know what it was he was trying to say. It was no longer a mystery, but the mystery was now brought into the light.

When we find ourselves lost in what the Lord is trying to say we should pray on the manner and ask God to give us the maturity and understanding to comprehend what he is revealing to us. Remember, it is the Lord’s will that we would understand. Take heart brother or sister maturity comes with time in God’s word and through prayer. If you continue to forge ahead you will soon discover the deep mysteries in the word of God as the Holy teaches and guides you. Amen
